Kolton Woods, Meteorologist
Kolton Woods joined the ABC57 First Warning Neighborhood Weather Team in June of 2024. He graduated from Valparaiso University in May of 2024 with a meteorology degree and minors in communications and mathematics. Kolton grew up in West Michigan, in the town of Muskegon, right by the shores of Lake Michigan. It is this reason why he is so passionate about the weather. Seeing lake effect snow dump feet of accumulation to shelf clouds rolling off the lake, he grew up loving the weather and all four seasons.
At Valpo, Kolton was active on campus. He was the Weather Director for the campus TV station, was the VP of his fraternity, a member of three honors societies -- one of those being the meteorology honors society which he was VP of -- and was a member of the Valpo chapter of the American Meteorological Society and the Valpo Storm Intercept Team. He also was a lab assistant and did intramural sports. Kolton did a news internship at WOOD TV8 in Grand Rapids before his senior year, and he was a forecaster for four years for a privately owned and operated radio/social media channel in his hometown.
Kolton also loves to hike, go to the beach, visit National Parks, be with his dogs, play pickleball and sand volleyball, and spend time with family and friends.
He is very excited to get to know the Michiana region and to share his passion with you all! You can connect with him through his Facebook page "Meteorologist Kolton Woods", his Twitter/X @wx_woods, or his email [email protected].
