SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- October will start like September with a lack of any high chance of a widespread soaking.
A stray shower is possible Friday and Sunday, but a widespread rain with decent measurable rainfall is very unlikely.
The first half of October largely will be dry and warm.
Lots of sunshine is expected next week as high pressure dominates our weather pattern which prevents any rain from forming.
September was completely dry for 19 days straight, until rain arrived on September 20th.
October probably will not be that dry, but a similar pattern could develop this month with very low rainfall for the first two to three weeks of October.
The Climate Prediction Center has high confidence in below normal precipitation from October 11 to 17.
October as a whole is also trending drier than normal, but just like last month, any weather system could bring heavy rain to boost rainfall totals back to average before the month is over.
For now, sunshine will be the main feature in the forecast through mid-October with little rainfall, which will remind you of September, but just a little cooler.
