Record-breaking warmth by Tuesday as highs reach 80 degrees
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Summer temperatures are not over across Michiana as a breezy southerly wind drags in record-breaking warmth.
Monday begins a warming trend across the region with highs in the mid to upper 60s.
We continue to get even warmer by Tuesday with highs hitting 80 degrees for likely the last time this year.
Tuesday’s forecast high of 80 degrees would put South Bend in their warmest October 29th on record.
The record high on Tuesday right now is 79 degrees, which was set back in 1999.
The warmth continues Wednesday so another record high could be in jeopardy for October 30th.
Wednesday’s forecast high is 79 degrees right now, putting it just shy of the record high on October 30th which is 81 degrees set in 1950.
Tuesday and Wednesday will both be breezy as well. Wind gusts could reach 40-45 mph both days.
A cold front arrives on Halloween which will put an end to the record warmth and potentially the 80s for the rest of 2024.
