A rainy, mild, and windy Election Day is expected

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- We are just three days away from the 2024 presidential election, so what does the weather forecast look like?

Well, a warm front will be moving in Monday morning which will bring more mild air just in time for Election Day.

Highs on Tuesday will be pushing 70, or in the low 70s.

If rain holds off for some of the afternoon, it will be a pretty mild day for voters at the polls.

The big concern on Tuesday will be the wind gusts though.

Weather models are hinting at wind gusts exceeding 40 mph on Election Day morning.

As shown above, the entire Great Lakes region will be pretty windy with gusts between 40-50 mph possible from Kentucky to the U.P. of Michigan.

Wind will not be the only weather concern though, as rain showers look pretty likely.

Tuesday morning could be mostly dry throughout Michiana before the cold front nears.

However, rain chances look to increase substantially Tuesday afternoon and evening.

The cold front moves through Tuesday night which will bring cooler weather to end the week.

So, if you need a reason to vote early and avoid higher crowds on Election Day, the forecast in the near-term is more friendly when you have to wait at the polls.
