Very warm day before a fall-like weekend

Southerly winds ahead of a cold front will bring in a little more moisture today and warmth. This afternoon will feel slightly more humid with highs getting into the upper 80s under partly cloudy skies. Thundershowers will arrive tonight after midnight into daybreak Friday, but much of the day Friday looks dry with decreasing clouds. This cold front will drag in substantially cooler temperatures as highs Friday will be near 70 in the afternoon, and then the low to mid 60s on Saturday. We are not expecting much rain tonight, likely less than 0.25" of rain. Lake effect rain showers will develop Friday night and Saturday morning, but most of that will be confined to LaPorte county and to the west near Valpo. We then settle into a very dry and sunny weather pattern heading into Sunday and beyond. Highs will be cooler on Sunday in the low 70s but quickly warming into the mid to upper 80s by midweek. Our drought will worsen heading into mid-September as the only rain chance the next 10 days arrives tonight.
