Winterfest plans for Saturday in Mishawaka

MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- Mishawaka Parks and Recreation is hosting Winterfest on Dec. 6 at Ironworks Plaza. The event is free to the public and there is something for all ages!

There will be ice skating, fire shows, inflatables, food and more bringing holiday spirit to the whole family!

Work for this event is a year-round task. ABC57's Sidney Moore spoke with Jordyn Rush, the special events director for Mishawaka Parks who says once this year's fest ends, work for next year starts up right after the holidays.

Rush explains, "I usually will kind of take every everything that works and everything that doesn't, and then kind of flip it back into January and start planning. So, we do our vendor applications and everything at the beginning of the year, so people are turning in apps right when they come out."

But Rush says that it's all worth it in the end once the annual parade begins!

Rush says, "I got a little tear eyed last year because it was just so cool to see that many people coming out and then seeing all the kids get really excited about all the elements of the parade. Also, like getting to see Santa come and, like, all the kids being really excited is really cool."

The event will kick off at 5 till 8:30 pm. For updates on this event visit: Mishawaka Parks and Recreations Department Facebook
