SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The City of South Bend has begun constructing new upgrades and additions to O'Brien Park, including a new sidewalk on Walter Street.

The City of South Bend announced the active construction on Tuesday, stating they expected it to conclude by mid-August, weather permitting.

The planned upgrades to the park include a new playground, splash pad, and outdoor restrooms. In addition, the new sidewalk will be along the north side of Walter Street, between Fellows and Michigan streets.

O'Brien Skate Park is planned to remain open and unimpacted by construction.
