'Back to School and Back in Time' event Saturday

Cass County Historical Society

The Cass County Historical Society is hosting its 'Back to School and Back in Time' event on Saturday in Cass County from 1 to 3:30 p.m.

The event will take place at the Red Brick Schoolhouse in Cassopolis, Mich. at 63626 Brick Church Rd.

The event will provide visitors with the opportunity to see what school was like in the 19th century in a one-room schoolhouse.

The one-room schoolhouse is one of only two that remain mostly the same in Cass County and it's the only one that includes the furnishings and stylings of the time period.

There had previously been over 100 one-room schoolhouses, but almost all have been demolished or were transitioned for other uses.

The event is free and open to the public.
