Amazon looking to hire 1,000 full-time positions at new Elkhart County warehouse

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- As work continues on a new 800,000-square-foot Amazon fulfillment center in Elkhart County, the company announced on Thursday that it will be hiring for more than 1,000 full-time positions for the warehouse.
"Employees at the new robotics facility will play integral roles in receiving, picking, packing, and shipping customer orders such as books, toys, and housewares, while supporting network logistics," an Amazon spokesperson said.
The company says the positions will have an average starting hourly pay of over $19 an hour for the warehouse between C.R. 17 and C.R. 19 in Elkhart County.
"From day one, employees receive comprehensive medical, vision, and dental insurance, along with a 401(k) with a 50 percent company match," a spokesperson said.
"The company provides up to 20 weeks of paid maternal and parental leave, complemented by innovative benefits like Leave Share and Ramp Back, which give new parents flexibility with their growing families."
Amazon says it has also committed to spending $1.2 billion to upskill 300,000 US employees for in-demand jobs.
"Through its Career Choice program, the company funds full college tuition, high school diplomas, GED certifications, and English as a Second Language (ESL) proficiency programs for front-line employees after just three months of employment," a spokesperson said.
Job applicants must be 18 years or older with a high school diploma or equivalent. Interested candidates can view open positions and apply online.
“As we prepare to launch our new robotics facility in Elkhart [County], we're excited to create 1,000 full-time jobs that combine competitive wages, comprehensive benefits, and opportunities to work with advanced technology," Amazon Regional Economic Development Manager Kyle DeGiulio.
"These roles offer a strong foundation for building a career at Amazon while contributing to our growing presence in Indiana.”
