Ugly Sweater Run through downtown Elkhart for charity Dec. 7
ELKHART, Ind. -- Ever wanted to run through downtown Elkhart in your ugliest holiday sweater? Well, the Elkhart Education Foundation's annual Ugly Sweater Run is the event to do it.
Taking place on Saturday, Dec. 7 beginning at 8:30 a.m. from the NIBCO Water and Ice Park, participants are encouraged to run, walk or just stroll through Downtown Elkhart to raise funds for the foundation.
The event will include an Ugly Sweater Contest, as well as a one-mile walk.
"All proceeds go to the Elkhart Education Foundation which provides Elkhart Community Schools students and staff with the tools they need to succeed, including a school supply store that provides school supplies to the students who need them, a Summer program for Elementary Students, a summer internship for High School and a student-led, STEAM based program for middle schoolers, along with many other programs in support of Elkhart Community Schools," organizers said.
Online registration for the event will remain open until the race starts while in-person registration will take place from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Dec. 6 at Beacon Health and Aquatics, and the day of the event before the race.
“The Ugly Sweater Run is one of our biggest fundraisers, and all of the proceeds from the event goes directly to support the students and Staff of Elkhart Community Schools.” said Ellen Williams, Executive Director. Awards will be given to the top three overall runners and first place in 15 age groups, along with awards for the ugliest sweater in several categories.
