Both drivers taken to hospital and cited in Thursday morning crash
ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. - The Elkhart County Sheriff's Office reports officers responded to a two-vehicle crash around 8:30 a.m., Thursday, June 6, near CR 11 and CR 24.
The report states a Chevy Suburban, driven by 70-year-old Donald Dickey of Elkhart, was travelling west on CR 24 approaching CR 11, when he disregarded a stop sign at the intersection and crashed into the passenger side of a Volkswagen Tiguan, driven by 43-year-old Rosaura Valenzuela-Reyes, who was travelling south on CR 11.
Dickey was taken to the hospital for immediate medical treatment for minor lacerations.
Dickey's passenger, 71-year-old Marla Dickey, was also taken to the hospital for complaints of stomach pain.
Valenzuela-Reyes was taken to the hospital for complaints of chest pain.
Authorities don’t believe drugs or alcohol were a factor in this crash.
Dickey was cited for disregarding a stop sign while Valenzuela-Reyes was cited for never receiving a driver's license and no insurance.
