SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The cold temperatures kicking of the month of December is making great weather for many outdoor winter activities like ice skating.
There are some new elements at Howard Park ice rink this season. Skaters can expect new light elements, and some more festive fun thought out the holiday season.
If temps are not cold enough to keep the ice cold, Howard Park has a chiller system underneath the ice, but if they can build the ice up overnight with cold temps that’s what they aim for.
But with the amount of snow across Michiana there has been very slippery conditions on the roads and sidewalks.
As winter festivities kick off make sure to wear shoes with good traction, and dress warm for the cold temps.
