Rise Above Academy hosting a family fun indoor event today in Michiana

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Rise Above Academy is having a fundraising event today in South Bend with a day full of shopping, food and fun for the whole family.

The local non-profit is making an impact on child development and they are dedicated to creating a better life for the youth of Michiana.

The focus is primarily towards minorities to assist with helping students reach success through creating a safe space and providing free programs.

The goal is to decrease the violence in the community while helping children reach their highest potential.

Not only will there be some fun activities today as you stop on by but you’ll also be supporting a great cause.

Due to the rain, the event moved indoors and some activities you will see for the kids are balloon animals, face paintings, raffles, games and more.

There will also be local vendors and food.

The event kicks off at 12-5 p.m. on Saturday at the St. John the Baptist School at 3616 St. Johns Way in South Bend.

The entrance cost for adults is $3 dollars and $1 dollar for kids.

The money raised for the entrance is going towards expanding the outreach of Rise Above Academy who is currently located out of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.

They offer a variety of services to underserved communities.
