Oaklawn's Got Talent competition set for May 10

ELKHART, Ind.-- Oaklawn, a leading organization in mental health and addiction services, is set to host their third annual Oaklawn's Got Talent event on May 10 at the Lerner Theatre.

This competition will host four local acts who will be competing for their grand prize of $5,000, in addition to raising funds for local mental health and addiction treatment. Much like the nationally televised "America's got Talent," the winner of this competition will be selected by the audience.

“We’re so excited for this opportunity to celebrate mental health and substance use treatment while showcasing some amazing performers from our own community,” said Becky Zakowski, executive director of the Oaklawn Foundation. “We’ll also share some ways Oaklawn is responding to the growing need for services."

The local talent being featured is singer-songwriter Marianni Fleming, the original five-piece band Quite Frank Lee, the musical improvisation group Hart Health, and dancer Olivia Kruyer.

"It’s wonderful that stigma is decreasing, and more people are reaching out for help, and we’re honored to be there for our community when they need us,” said Zakowski.

The event will take place May 10 at 7:30p.m. at the Lerner Theatre. Tickets will cost $10 and are available for purchase at the Learner Box Office.
