From showers, to sunshine, to soaking rain
SOUTH BEND,Ind. -- Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman met with the media today for the first time since announcing freshman CJ Carr as the starting quarterback.
The Irish will kick off their season in less than a week on the road against University of Miami. It will be Carr’s debut, while the Hurricanes turn to transfer Carson Beck, who brings years of experience.
Freeman admitted it was not an easy call choosing between Carr and Kenny Minchey, but said Carr proved he was ready as camp went on.
When asked about Beck, Freeman praised the veteran’s decision-making and ability to escape pressure. He added that both teams are built on strong offensive and defensive lines, which will play a huge role in how the game plays out.
Notre Dame is currently 0-6 while traveling to take on Miami, but Freeman says the team is focused on giving their young quarterback the protection he needs heading into one of the toughest matchups of the opening weekend.
