Maple Syrup Festival rolls on in Wakarusa

WAKARUSA, Ind. -- The Wakarusa Maple Festival rolled on today, attracting hundreds of people to the small town.

Today was the second day of the fest, beginning the day with a parade and a 5k run this morning.

Dozens of Vendors arrived for the event as well, which showcased the small-town charm of Wakarusa.

"I think it's really important to have a festival here, like that, because, or like this, because it's, I mean, it's a town of 2000 people, so to be honest, when we're bringing in somewhere in the neighborhood of 10 to 12,000 people into town, it allows us to showcase the town what we have used to be Wakarusa, for those who don't know, means knee deep In mud in the Native American language. Well, we've decided that the mud is gone. The buildings have been built. People live here now, and we are now knee deep in charm," stated The Director of the Wakarusa Chamber of Commerce Brock Rose.

The Maple Syrup Festival continues through tomorrow, with gates opening at 11 a.m.
