CHICAGO -- Today's theme for day one of the Democratic National Convention is 'For the People', with not only that ringing true for the people giving speeches on the big stage tonight, but for those in attendance at the DNC.
ABC57's Julianne Grohowski met with Benton Harbor Mayor Marcus Muhammad where he tells her that he's rubbing shoulders with the "Big Dogs" of the Democratic Party who are all gathered in Chicago this week.
"Well, this is an opportunity to rub shoulders and network. You know, one thing I learned in communications, they say, either you're networking or you're not working. So this gives me an opportunity to meet people, talk to people, and represent Ben harbor you," stated Muhammad.
Mayor Muhammad says even just after the day of the Convention, he's been able to network with national and statewide politicians, focusing on what he can bring back to Benton Harbor at the Legislative level, making the city a better place for its residents.
Mayor Muhammad says he's looking forward to the next few days of attending more sessions, meeting with more top Democrats, and then doing everything he can to rally support for Vice President Kamala Harris.
