Juvenile arrested in connection with Culver auto theft

CULVER, Ind. -- The Culver Police Department reports an arrest has been made in connection with at least one of two recent car thefts.
Police say on Aug. 12, around 8:25 a.m., officers began an investigation into a stolen vehicle which occurred in the 600 block of College Avenue.
The report states the vehicle was returned to the victim's property with significant body damage.
Authorities say the theft took place during the overnight hours and the investigation is ongoing.
On Aug. 16, around 8:08 a.m., CPD began investigating another stolen vehicle which occurred in the 300 block of E. Jefferson Street.
Police say this also occurred during the overnight hours.
The vehicle was found outside of the Culver area within minutes of officers arriving and beginning the investigation.
An Indiana State Police Crime Scene Technician assisted CPD in both cases.
On Aug. 16, around 7:03 p.m., a Culver officer recognized a 17-year-old boy believed to be involved in unrelated previous criminal activity walking on Madison Street.
Police say the juvenile ran when he saw the officer.
Officers, with help from nearby departments and a K9 unit, located the teen 20 minutes later hiding in an area near the 300 block of E. Jefferson Street.
Authorities say the juvenile was found to be in possession of an article connecting him with one of the auto thefts.
The juvenile was taken to a juvenile facility pending review by the Marshall County Prosecutor's Office.
