Elkhart reports city-owned boat damaged by unknown suspects

ELKHART, Ind. -- The Elkhart Police Department reports officers responded to Ideal Beach for reported damage to city property around 10:06 a.m., Thursday.
The caller, an employee with City of Elkhart Buildings and Grounds, reported an unknown suspect or suspects made entry to an office area and stole keys to a boat.
The caller stated it must've occurred between around 2 p.m., Wednesday, and 7:30 a.m., Thursday.
The unknown suspect(s) removed the engine cover and cut wiring harnesses to a pontoon boat while it was chained to the dock on the lake.
The case remains under investigation.
