ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- UPDATE: The Elkhart County Sheriff's Office has identified the juvenile rider as Aidin Mathieu.
"We have been made aware that Aidin Mathieu, an incoming Northridge freshman, was tragically killed during an accident this morning," Middlebury Community Schools said in a social media post.
"A group of MCS administrators and counselors will be meeting Monday morning, and will be ready and willing to help students or staff who need support. We send condolences and offer prayers for everyone impacted by this heartbreaking event."
ORIGINAL STORY: The Elkhart County Sheriff's Office is investigating a crash that left a juvenile dead.
Police say it happened just before 5 a.m. this morning near the intersection of S.R. 120 and C.R 35 in Elkhart County.
A 14-year-old boy was riding a 2023 Honda dirt bike heading south on C.R. 35 when he failed to stop at a stop sign at S.R. 120.
He then hit the trailer of a vehicle heading west through the intersection.
He was pronounced dead at scene and the crash remains under investigation.
