Elkhart County Historical Museum to host baseball talk and mini-camp

BRISTOL, Ind. -- The Elkhart County Historical Museum invites the community to learn about the history of America's favorite pastime in Elkhart County.
The museum will host a talk on Thursday at 7 p.m., where Curator of Education Jenifer Blouin Policelli will discuss the sport's history locally.
The presentation will cover local ballplayers from corporate teams to professional figures in the MLB and the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League.
The presentation is free to attend, and hot dogs, popcorn, and other concessions will be available.
As a follow-up to the presentation, the museum will host a Vintage Baseball Mini-Camp at the museum on April 11 from 10 a.m. to noon.
The camp is aimed at children ages 8 to 12 and costs $10 per child.
Organizers say partners from the Elkhart County Railroaders, a local vintage baseball club, will be there to teach campers how to play by the old rules.
Participants will make up their own vintage baseball nickname, practice their skills in drills, and play a full game.
Participants should wear athletic wear, but no cleats, and bringing water bottles is encouraged. Organizers say snacks will be provided.
There are limited spaces available, and participants must register online by April 10.
The Elkhart County Historical Museum is located at 304 W Vistula St. in Bristol.
