Elkhart Clinic reopens with new vapor detection system

ELKHART, Ind. -- After three weeks of the Volatile Organic Compound levels holding at zero inside of the Elkhart Clinic, the building reopened to patients Monday morning.

The reopening comes after nearly two months of closure due to a “mysterious vapor” that was identified to be “gas-based”.

While a vapor detection system has been installed, the original source of the vapor has yet to be identified.

Clinic officials say the vapor was entering the building through cracks in the cement walls of the basement.

Those cracks are being re-sealed in all basement areas, a process which should be done in the next day or two.

The clinic offered welcome desks for patients whose providers are now in a different location to help guide them to new spot.
