Driver flown to hospital following crash with semi-truck on U.S. 30
KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. -- The Indiana State Police reports troopers responded to a crash in the eastbound lanes of U.S. 30, involving a cargo van and semi-truck around 2:41 p.m., Thursday.
Authorities' initial investigation indicates a white Mercedes van, driven by 49-year-old Felix Farinola of Harrisburg, Pa., was traveling east on U.S. 30 in the right lane behind a blue 2006 Peterbilt towing a covered trailer.
The report states the Peterbilt, driven by 74-year-old Michael Worsham of Bourbon, then came to a stop for a red light at the intersection of S.R. 19 when Farinola failed to stop in time and struck the back of the trailer.
Farinola was then flown from the scene to a hospital in Fort Wayne due to injuries sustained. He was released from the hospital Friday morning.
Worsham was uninjured in the crash.
Authorities say neither alcohol nor drugs are suspected to factors in this crash.
The report states it is suspected that Farinola was following too closely.
Farinola's condition is currently unknown.
