Mishawaka Building Trades receive funds to keep teaching students construction skills and trades
MISHAWAKA, Ind. - Mishawaka Building Trades was presented with a check for $275,000 from Mayor Dave Wood and other city officials on behalf of the City of Mishawaka for the use of rehabilitating homes for sale, starting with 324 Mishawaka Ave.
The check was given Thursday evening with funds coming from part of the federally funded American Rescue Plan Act the city received.
The City of Mishawaka asked for proposals on what to do with the ARPA Funds and Ben Modlin, Engineering Department Head at Mishawaka High School, requested that money goes to support the Mishawaka Building Trades as an investment into the community to rehabilitate homes for sale in Mishawaka.
The Mishawaka Building Trades is a non-profit program through Mishawaka High School that allows the opportunity for Mishawaka students to learn skills and trades of the construction industry.
Traditionally they build new homes; however, this is the first rehab house the Mishawaka Building Trades is working on.
