Two drivers sent to hospital following crash on Lincolnway

ABC 57

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- The Elkhart County Sheriff's Office reports deputies responded to a two-vehicle crash near the intersection of Lincolnway and Belden Avenue on Monday around 5:46 p.m.

The report states a Kia Soul, driven by a 58-year-old Elkhart woman, was traveling west on Lincolnway, while a Mitsubishi Eclipse, driven by a 54-year-old woman was also traveling west on Lincolnway.

Authorities say the Eclipse began to slow down as they approached the intersection at Belden Avenue due to a traffic back-up from Ash Road to Belden Avenue.

Deputies say that's when the Soul did not stop or slow down from highway speeds and struck the rear of the Eclipse.

Both vehicles then came to a stop.

The 58-year-old driver was taken to Elkhart General Hospital with complaints of arm abrasions and chest pain.

The 54-year-old driver was also taken to Elkhart General Hospital, but with complaints of chest and neck pain.
