ORIGINAL STORY: The Elkhart Police Department is investigating a crash involving a pedestrian and car which happened in a downtown parking garage at 175 E. Marion St., on Friday, July 5.

Police say their initial investigation indicates a two-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 10:20 p.m. on Friday, on the upper deck of the E. Marion Street parking garage.

The report states a Ford Explorer, driven by a 71-year-old woman, struck the rear end of a Honda Civic, causing minor damage.

After the initial crash, authorities say the Explorer pulled forward, running over the leg of a pedestrian, identified as 57-year-old man, who was not involved in the two-vehicle crash.

The 71-year-old driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

Neither the driver of the Explorer nor the Civic driver reported any injuries from the crash.
