Woman arrested for interfering with an arrest, causing large disturbance

ELKHART, Ind. -- Court documents from Elkhart County show a woman is behind bars on multiple charges after police say she interfered with an arrest and caused a large disturbance at the Washington Gardens apartments.
Elkhart police initially responded to Washington Gardens on Saturday for a report of shots fired.
Officers arrived to find a man and woman fighting.
Another woman, identified as 35-year-old Chala Christopher, was arrested when she allegedly refused to leave the scene as police were handcuffing the man involved in the fight.
Court documents show Christopher allegedly became loud and combative, even trying to block an Elkhart police K-9 trying to help control the crowd of about 200 people.
Christopher was charged with Resisting Law Enforcement: def. knowingly/intentionally forcibly resist/obstruct, Interfering with a Law Enforcement Animal, Disorderly Conduct, and Possession of Marijuana, all Misdemeanors.
Christopher is due to be in court Friday.
