Victims Identified in Michigan City double homicide

MICHIGAN CITY, Mich. -- Authorities have identified the two victims killed in a double homicide over the weekend in Michigan City, with a male juvenile in custody.
The victims — 66-year-old Sylvia White and 67-year-old Eddie Nixon Jr. — were found dead early Sunday morning inside their home in the 100 block of Schofield Court. The LaPorte County Coroner confirmed both died from multiple stab wounds.
A neighbor, who asked to remain anonymous, described the victims as kind and well-known in the area.
“She was a nice lady — always stayed in her yard,” he said. “Her husband played the guitar at church. He was a cool dude.”
Michigan City Police say the juvenile suspect, who is being held at the LaPorte County Juvenile Services Center, was known to the victims. Neighbors tell ABC57 the suspect was their foster child.
“Some people just don’t know what’s going on with these foster kids. They’re traumatized moving from house to house,” the neighbor said. “Ain’t no telling what he been through.”
According to the Michigan City Police Department, the LaPorte County Prosecutor’s Office has submitted a probable cause affidavit and charging documents. Those are now awaiting a judge’s review.
