Local splash artist uplifts the community while helping local businesses
SOUTH HAVEN, Mich. -- A South Haven window artist is helping local businesses shine by turning their storefront windows into a masterpiece of art after the impact of the pandemic and inflation.
It’s a sight you may not expect to see during the winter months but for the last 30 years Jacqueline Fox has used her art to spread holiday cheer to create a sense of community and this year her mission is bigger than ever.
After realizing the demand went down due to the pandemic and inflation she has painted over 21 storefronts in the area since October.
The artwork is combined with personalized custom designs that are inspired by the community and businesses themselves.
Whether it’s snow covered winter scenes or festive holiday displays her work has been designed to uplift the community and give small businesses that extra touch of holiday spirit to attract more customers.
Each mural takes about 5-7 hours to bring to life, the high quality artwork withstands all types of weather conditions and is easy to remove when you want your window to return to normal.
Jacqueline plans to help local businesses just like Country House Furniture spread the holiday cheer through creativity.
“It kinda declined but now it’s kinda coming back a little bit you know businesses were suffering for a little while there and it’s come back it’s definitely come back and people are really asking for it.” said Fox
The window artist plans to revive the tradition of window art by reaching out to local businesses encouraging them to utilize murals to engage the community during the holidays. The Country House Manager, Scott Onkins shares how much this has impacted their small business.
“People around town are talking about it and everything and they put it on the South Haven chat line and people were saying like oh you have to go check out the windows at country house, that was kinda cool.” said Onkin
Jacqueline mentioned the popularity of window artwork declined due to business not being able to afford the additional expenses, she is not only painting but hoping to teach others how to create their own holiday art.
Through her beginner friendly YouTube tutorials she shares her skills with local artists to inspire them to be a part of this holiday revival and spread cheer within your own community.
