SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Following the end of Indiana voter registration at 11:59 p.m. Monday, early in-person voting locations opened their doors at 8 a.m. Tuesday.
Officials say they started the day with people already lined up outside, eager to cast their ballots almost a full month before the November election.
Two voters ABC57 spoke with on Tuesday shared that they were on break from college in-state, and that this would be the only available day for them to vote at all.
County Circuit Clerk, Amy Rolfes, shared that election security was a top priority this year, and that a series of extra measures have been taken to ensure voter safety.
Voters in St. Joseph County can vote early at the County-City Building in South Bend or the County-Services Building in Mishawaka. Another location will open to the public for early voting on Oct. 21.
