ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- The two Elkhart men who were charged with the deadly shooting in May 2023 in South Bend, Eduardo Alvarado and Ernesto Arellano, were sentenced earlier today May 13.
Alvarado plead guilty for one charge of murder and subsequently was sentenced to 45 years in prison, but received a jail credit, subtracting 364 days from his sentence.
Arellano took a plea deal and the charge for Battery Resulting in Bodily Injury was dismissed, and only received three years for Assisting a Criminal, who had committed the murder.
