Three families receive keys to new homes for Christmas thanks to Habitat for Humanity of Elkhart County
ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. - Habitat for Humanity of Elkhart County announced the end of a yearlong journey for three families as they got the keys to their new homes this holiday season.
The Habitat partner families, Cara Storer, Montasia Cole-Chilton, and Julie Morris were accepted into Habitat's homeownership program in 2022 and will now become first-time homeowners.
Since their acceptance into the program, Habitat officials say each family has demonstrated unwavering commitment by completing financial literacy and homeownership classes, as well as contributing 250 sweat equity hours.
Habitat also states families have not only invested their time but have also diligently saved for a down payment, making their dreams of homeownership a reality.
The construction of these new homes was possible through support of local sponsors like THOR Industries, Winnebago Industries, and First Presbyterian Church, who partnered with Habitat on the Storer family home in memory of longtime Habitat volunteer and attendee of First Presbyterian Church, Chuck Vetter.
