Teens arrested for possession of stolen firearms from local hardware store

CASS COUNTY, Mich. -- The Cass County Sheriff's Office reports deputies along with the Cass County Drug Enforcement Team and the Cassopolis Police Department conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle in a parking lot on School Street in Cassopolis around 3 p.m. Monday.
Detectives say they had information the subjects in the vehicle were in possession of stolen firearms.
The report states 18-year-old Jacob Michael Morrison, of Cassopolis, and a 17-year-old boy, whose name is being withheld, were detained and questioned.
Authorities say several stolen firearms and ammunition from a break-in at Hayden’s Hardware Store in Cassopolis in January 2025, were recovered at the scene.
Morrison was later arrested and charged with possession of stolen firearms.
The 17-year-old was charged with breaking and entering and possession of stolen firearms and released to his parent.
The case remains under investigation.
