Suspects identified in Tuesday's Mishawaka pursuit and crash
MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- The suspects in the case have been identified as 32-year-old Brison Williams, of South Bend, and 31-year-old Jesse Houston, of Mishawaka.
Authorities say Williams was driving without a seatbelt on Lincolnway West and sped off when police tried to make a traffic stop. After going in circles around the Battell Street area for a bit, he abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.
"Officer Taylor initially lost sight of the driver when he jumped a fence, but two witnesses in the area described the driver and pointed out the apartment the driver fled to," court documents show. "Officers knocked on the door of the apartment and a Jesse Houston answered the door."
Authorities say Houston denied that any other male was in the residence, but they could smell of marijuana coming from the home. They obtained a warrant to search for the driver and contraband, and when they did, officers found Williams hiding under the bed in a room occupants identified as Houston's.
"In the same room, they found a bag of what field tested positive as 205 grams of crystal methamphetamine along with Mr. Williams's jacket and cellphone," authorities said.
The St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office has filed the following charges against Brison Williams:
- Count I: Possession of Methamphetamine, a Level 3 Felony.
- Count II: Resisting Law Enforcement, a Level 6 Felony.
