UPDATE: Mishawaka police have confirmed that a crash between a Mishawaka patrol vehicle and two vehicles at approx. 10:38 a.m. on Tuesday in the area of Lincoln Way West and Logan Street.

"The driver of that vehicle decided to not stop, and a vehicle pursuit ensued," MDP said. "The pursuit wound around The Oaks neighborhood (West Grove/Lawrence/Battell/Broadway) and over to North Main Street. During this chase, a Mishawaka Police officer, with his emergency lights and sirens activated, was involved in a crash with two vehicles, and a fence. This was in the 800 block of Liberty Drive."

There were no injuries reported in that crash, but the pursuit officially ended "a short time later, when the driver crashed into a garage," authorities said. "This was in an alley in the 300 block of West Battell Street."

Witnesses reportedly told officers on scene that the driver ran from that crash and entered the upstairs apartment at 316 West Battell.

"Ultimately a search warrant was granted for the apartment, and the driver in the pursuit was located and taken into custody," authorities said. "A resident of the apartment was also taken into custody on an unrelated criminal arrest warrant. Further, narcotics and weapons were located in the apartment as part of the search warrant."

Both adult males were transported to the St. Joseph County Jail, and the case remains under investigation.

ORIGINAL: MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- The Mishawaka Police Department reports officers were involved in a vehicle pursuit in the north part of Mishawaka Tuesday morning.

Police say the chase ended in a crash involving one of the officers in the pursuit. No injuries were reported.

The chase ended near Liberty Drive and Broadway Street where one man taken away in handcuffs.

Then, police charged towards a nearby house with guns drawn. After a short time, they brought a man from the house in handcuffs and took him away as well.

The house police found the second suspect in was on W. Battell Street, near the intersection of Liberty Drive and W Battell.
