COLOMA, Mich. -- Students across Coloma Community Schools had the chance to meet a World War Two and Korean War veteran and perform for other local veterans this morning at the school's 49th annual Veteran's Day Breakfast.
Each veteran who attended was recognized by the era in which they served, including active-duty military men and women who students have become pen pals with.
It's all a part of Operation Save, which stands for 'Students And Veterans Engaging'.
"It's just nice that that the school which I went to school here, it's been about 40 years since I stepped foot in this building, but it's nice that they're putting something on and the interaction with the high school kids, and they all seem pretty excited about it. It's just nice that they want to honor veterans," stated William Bohannon, Army Veteran, Retired Battle Creek Police Officer, and currently serving on the Honor Guard of the National Cemetery of Battle Creek.
