UPDATE: Joint investigation launched into Elkhart shooting

UPDATE TWO: The Elkhart County Sheriff's Office reports Thursday that detectives executed a search warrant on Huey Street in South Bend, with no suspects taken into custody.

The detectives executed a search warrant in the 1400 block of Huey Street "without incident" and with the aid of the South Bend Police Department and the department's SWAT team.

UPDATE ONE: The Elkhart County Sheriff's Office reports deputies responded to the area of 6th Street and Oakdale Drive around 10:53 a.m., Wednesday, to assist Elkhart police with a woman suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

Investigators determined the woman had been shot in the 54000 block of Hastings Street.

The victim was taken to Elkhart General Hospital for treatment and is said to be in stable condition.

Authorities say the incident appears to be isolated, and detectives with the sheriff's office are investigating.

ORIGINAL STORY: ELKHART, Ind. -- A woman suffering from shooting injuries flagged down a Concord School Bus for help at 6th Street and Stiver Avenue in Elkhart Wednesday morning, according to the Elkhart Police Department.

Police say the actual shooting occurred in Elkhart County limits, not city.

The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Authorities have yet to release further information.

Concord Community Schools confirmed to ABC57 that it's aware of an incident involving one of its buses Wednesday.

District officials stated Bus 17 was enroute to Ox Bow Elementary School after picking up a student near the intersection of S. 6th Street and Stiver Avenue.

That's when it's reported that's when a woman boarded the bus with a gunshot wound. One student was on board at the time.

The student was taken home, and the parents were notified of the incident.

School officials say no students or staff were harmed.

The school district is working with local law enforcement as they investigate the incident.
