ELKHART, Ind. -- A woman suffering from shooting injuries flagged down a Concord School Bus for help at 6th Street and Stiver Avenue in Elkhart Wednesday morning, according to the Elkhart Police Department.

Police say the actual shooting occurred in Elkhart County limits, not city.

The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Authorities have yet to release further information.

Concord Community Schools confirmed to ABC57 that it's aware of an incident involving one of its buses Wednesday.

District officials stated Bus 17 was enroute to Ox Bow Elementary School after picking up a student near the intersection of S. 6th Street and Stiver Avenue.

That's when it's reported that's when a woman boarded the bus with a gunshot wound. One student was on board at the time.

The student was taken home, and the parents were notified of the incident.

School officials say no students or staff were harmed.

The school district is working with local law enforcement as they investigate the incident.
