UPDATE: Michigan City Area Schools announced Friday that students and staff will return for the new school year on Aug. 18.

Power and internet are expected to be restored across all buildings.

If you have questions about the start of the school year, contact your student’s school. Staff will be available to answer questions on Aug. 18.

ORIGINAL STORY: MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. -- Michigan City Area Schools will remain closed through the end of the week following Tuesday's severe storm damage.

MCAS officials added there will be no eLearning on Thursday and Friday either.

Officials expect to welcome students and staff back on Aug. 17.
