Section of M-139 in Berrien County reopens Friday

BERRIEN COUNTY, Ind. -- The Michigan Department of Transportation announced M-139 between Scottdale Road and John Beers Road in Berrien County is set to reopen Friday following the completion of the culvert replacement project.

Work began in May to replace the large box culvert under M-139 but was delayed by heavy rain events and poor soil.

MDOT says the new culvert will increase the waterway opening for the Big Meadow Drain tributary for more natural creek flow and less obstruction.

Officials say crews will also complete clean-up work in the work zone, as well as slope restoration, and final grading.
