Mayor Wood gives State of the City address
ABC57 Anchor Brian Conybeare takes and deep dive into the impacts of SB326, the new law signed by Governor Eric Holcomb allowing the City of South Bend to 'capture' $100M in existing tax revenues over the next 20 years.
With that money, the city will be "Raising the Roof" at Four Winds Field adding a new upper deck and other amenities. But the impacts don't stop there.
The city-owned Century Center downtown will also get a major makeover to bring in more conventions, business conferences and other large events.
And, best of all, the new law does not raise existing taxes or create any new taxes either.
It simply captures the income and sales taxes people are already paying to the state, from the South Bend Professional Sports and Convention Development Area downtown.
