New things coming to Brandywine Schools as first day of school kicks off
NILES, Mich -- Many Michigan schools have started back up after summer break comes to an end. ABC 57’s Sidney Moore went to Brandywine High School along with the elementary to get details on some new things coming to the district.
Brandywine Superintendent Travis Walker explains that there will be a new CTE building coming to the district along with a new track and security system.
The new security system will be able to do background checks on visitors before a visitor pass is printed out, helping to ensure the safety of students.
Enrollment numbers are on the rise for Brandywine, and because of that they are working to build a new gym for students. Walker explains that currently some of the P.E. classes are being held in empty classrooms due to the growth of the schools.
A new performing arts center is also in the works for Brandywine. With all the new improvements coming to the district many teachers were eager to welcome their students back into the classroom after the hallways were empty for a couple months.
