Moped driver dead after collision with box truck in Elkhart

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- The Elkhart County Sheriff's Office is investigating crash between a box truck and a moped that left one driver dead on Saturday morning at the intersection of C.R. 46 and C.R. 9.

Authorities say that 25-year-oldAnthony Arevalo called police after he collided with a moped that he said had disregarded a stop sign at the intersection. 

The call came in at 7:10 a.m., and when authorities arrived, they found 33-year-old Justin Sanders dead from injuries on impact.

Reports state that Arevalo was driving a 2023 International Harvester box truck and Sanders was driving a 2018 Toatao moped.

The crash is being handled by the Crash Investigation Team.
