NOW: Michael Misch responds to disciplinary charges filed by the Indiana Supreme Court

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- New details tonight have come out on the Indiana Supreme Court Disciplinary charges filed against South Bend Attorney Michael Misch, over his involvement with former Saint Joseph County Probate Court Judge Jason Cichowicz.

Misch, responding to the allegations in a new court filing.

Michael Misch served as the Saint Joseph County Commission Attorney until last summer. He was also the attorney and campaign treasurer for Judge Cichowicz and represented the late mentally ill millionaire Russell Cartwright and his family foundation, at the same time he represented a non-profit called 'Friends of the Juvenile Justice Center'.

Misch is accused of helping Cichowicz hide a $100,000 donation from The Cartwright Foundation to the charity: to pay for renovations inside the JJC building, the work ultimately being done by the judge's own father.

Cichowicz was suspended from the bench for 45 days without pay for 'Judicial Misconduct' in 2023 over his handling of Cartwright's money.

Misch's attorney declined to comment today, but in his response, they denied Misch violated any legal ethics rules.

It states in part, Misch, quote:

"...Admits the anonymous donor was the C foundation, for which Judge Cichowicz was sole trustee and for which respondent was attorney. Based upon the facts and applicable law, the respondent has not violated any rules of professional conduct as alleged in the complaint."
