MDOT using crowdsourced data to plan safer infrastructure for cyclist, pedestrians

BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. -- The Michigan Department of Transportation is exploring how supplementing bicyclist and pedestrian count data with crowdsourced data from mobile apps can help plan safer, more effective infrastructure for nonmotorized travelers.

"Researchers created a new framework using the crowdsourced data to support estimates of people walking and bicycling," MDOT said.
