PORTAGE, Ind. -- Matt Reum, a man who survived being trapped under his truck for six days almost a year ago, posted via Facebook Tuesday, that he participated in the Turkey Trot Thanksgiving 5K held by the Portage Township YMCA on Nov. 28.

Reum, who had his left leg amputated below the knee due to the crash, expressed gratitude to his supporters and stated his reason for participating in the 5K.

In Reum's Facebook post, he states in part, " I am thankful for my upbringing that led to the determination that led me to stick it through to the end not only in my truck, but to push me to the point where I held up my end of the promise to Jennifer Copeland and did a 5k for thanksgiving."
