ELKHART, Ind -- After serving in the military for his country and earning prestigious awards, war veteran Jerry Campbell is in of a kidney.
The war veteran is currently in stage of renal kidney failure at the age of 73 and gets dialysis treatment from his home.
As a veteran, the Pokagon band veterans group is doing their best to reach the community in order to gain a new kidney for Jerry Campbell.
"It reminds me of being in nam, when you’re told to leave no man left behind. If they’re down, you go back in after them and so they’re coming back after me." said Jerry Campbell
Campbell has been doing his dialysis treatment for over a month now and although it is exhausting, he and his wife don't believe it's as bad as it could be.
"We’re happy, we have a wonderful family. We have a wonderful relationship. So, what more could we have? It’s always worst for someone else. So, you’ve got to keep that in the forefront of your mind." said Campbell's wife Marijke Campbell
If you would like to donate an organ or kidney, you can do so by visiting http://iuhealth.org/transplant/.
Those who can donate an organ besides a kidney, will help Jerry Campbell move up on the list for an available kidney.
