UPDATE: Local beach reopens after E. coli levels returned to normal

WARSAW, Ind. -- UPDATE: The Warsaw Parks and Recreation Department announced the health department informed them the new E. coli test came back completely normal for Center Lake.

As such, park officials say Center Lake Beach is open for the 4th of July holiday and weekend.

ORIGINAL STORY: The Warsaw Parks and Recreation Department reported around 11:37 a.m., Wednesday, July 3, they were notified by the city's health department that E. coli levels in Center Lake were tested and deemed too high.

The health department recommended Center Lake Beach to close immediately.

Park officials say samples have been drawn again and test results will be available Thursday, July 4.

If levels are safe for the public, the beach will be reopened.

If levels remain high, officials say the beach will remain closed until further notice.

The parks and rec department will continue to post updates via their official Facebook page.
