ISP Bremen Post release weekend results of targeted patrols in South Bend

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The Indiana State Police Bremen Post reports troopers conducted targeted, high visibility patrols, known as "Wolfpack," on Friday and Saturday night, which resulted in several arrests, warnings, citations and more.

Police say the coordinated patrols focused on proactive policing and stopping criminals.

On Friday police focused within the city of South Bend, while Saturday night's focus was on the north side and the Roseland area.

Police say on both nights the patrols went from 6 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next morning.

During one incident a trooper arrested a Lyft driver for Driving While Suspended-Prior. 

Police say driver was working at the time and had a paying customer in the car. 

The trooper then drove the Lyft customer to his final destination.

Another incident police highlighted involved a trooper arresting a driver for Operating While Intoxicated. Police say that driver had a young child in the front seat who was not in a child’s car seat.

A trooper stayed with the child until the mother arrived on scene.

In another incident highlighted, a trooper came across a domestic violence situation occurring while a vehicle was in motion. 

The trooper along with a probationary trooper in training were able to intervene, preventing further injury to the victim.

Police say the suspect was arrested for several criminal charges, including Domestic Battery and violating a Protection Order.

The patrols cumulatively resulted in:

  • 84 traffic citations
  • 103 warnings
  • Eight OWI arrests
  • Eight drug arrests
  • 41 misdemeanor arrests
  • 14 felony arrests
  • 26 total criminal defendants
  • 20 agency assists
