Indiana Toll Road announces wind ban for some high-profile vehicles Friday

ABC 57 SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The Indiana Toll Road announced a wind ban will go into effect Friday between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. EST from the Illinois state line to Exit 72 at the South Bend West Toll Plaza.
Toll Road officials say the ban applies to certain high‑profile vehicles due to forecasted high winds and hazardous travel conditions.
Vehicles not permitted during ban:
- Triple tractor‑trailers
- Long doubles (high profile only)
- High‑profile oversize permit loads
Officials say all other vehicles are permitted.
Expected weather conditions include:
- Southerly winds increasing late Thursday night before shifting to westerly Friday morning
- Wind gusts of 45–50 mph late Thursday night
- Gusts increasing to 50–60 mph Friday morning
- Some uncertainty in peak wind intensity depending on cloud cover
