SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- A 51-year-old South Bend man is facing charges related to child molesting.

Pastor Barrera-Hernandez is charged with Child Molesting, a Level 1 Felony, and Child Molesting while Fondling, a Level 4 Felony.

His initial hearing is set for March 17.

According to court documents, the female victim recently disclosed being sexually assaulted when she was younger to her mother. Most of the incidents disclosed to authorities happened while the victim was between 8 and 9 years old.

The victim said at the time, Barrera-Hernandez would perform sexual acts on her.

Court documents further state that the victim called Barrera-Hernandez on the phone and recorded their conversation in January. In the recordings, she asks him about the sexual acts in the past and he allegedly confesses to child molesting, while recounting what he did. Barrera-Hernandez later tells the victim that he would like to have sex with her now that she is older.
